Where has January gone already?!?! It has been a whirlwind to start 2018, New Years, multiple birthday parties, new friends, old friends, dodgeball, soccer, and the list goes on and on. Unlike 2017, I can tell there is a bit of hope in the air that 2018 will be a better year for people, myself included.
One of my New Year’s Goals was to write more and open up more in these blog posts. There was no real intention to what I was going to blog about when crafting this mix, but as it developed (twice… yes I forgot to save the first version 🤦♂️) this mix put a smile on my face, got me to dance around my apartment (which isn’t hard to do) and brightened my day. While the sun is hiding and it’s overcast outside, there is something about music that can brighten my day. Aha, we have a topic!
My last blog dealt with insecurities I face, and some days I forget that small things can not only brighten my day, but also brighten someone else’s day. Communication is such a big thing for me. Text messages, as simple as they are can 100% brighten my day. I think part of that comes from the fact that I work from home and some days don’t see anyone until I go to the gym. It’s nice to know that you aren’t invisible, and someone in the world is actually around and wants to chat. It definitely puts a smile on my face especially when it’s someone I’m interested in getting to know better, whether that’s a friend or more.
Come to think of it, I’m always more impressed by the little things (texting and asking how my day is, etc), and details (remembering that E.T. is my favorite movie) then I am the grand display when it comes to dating, and it’s the same in my everyday life. Back in Denver, I’d frequent 3 different Starbucks stores depending on my route to the office. I quickly realized that these baristas see the same people every day, and was always impressed when they started to pick up on my order. Now granted I’m a difficult one because I change it often, and always try the newest menu item. However it always put a smile on my face when they would either guess what my order would be, and then make me laugh when I’d change it up on them. It’s the thought that counts!
Perhaps I should add to my list of goals for 2018, to try and brighten the days of people I come across, whether that is at the gym, at Starbucks, or heck even anyone who reads my rambles on this blog, just wanting to listen to whatever silly mix I crafted. (#ShamelessPlug) Either way in a world filled with chaos, and a man in the White House who isn’t qualified; be kind to one another, be a bright light in the world, and don’t forget to VOTE in these midterm elections in November!
About The Mix (ATM): The mix was started based on Justin Timberlake’s Filthy and the marketing used for it “This song should be played very loud.” The lyrics “you know this ain’t the clean version” combined with the latest Fifty shades lead single made me really want to start this mix with a tinge of sex appeal. Then I thought it would be clever to mix all 3 of the Fifty Shades singles and celebrate the 19th anniversary of Baby One More Time. Rumor has it The Pussycat Dolls are reuniting this year, and I’ve been itching to add a good Beyonce remix lately and haven’t found the right spot, until now! Betty Who’s Ignore Me is such a great song, and I’m still loving the Dua Lipa album so they got thrown in. To end the mix I’ve been so in LOVE with Martin Garrix and his recent releases, last year Scared To Be Lonely was one of my favorite songs, and there is something about So Far Away that speaks to my soul. I knew I wanted to end it with a song that should be played very loud and this Calvin Harris Outside remix does just that. This may be my favorite mix I’ve created to date…
